- David’s mother was a member of a Jewish family in what is now Ukraine’s Ternopil, and his paternal ancestors emigrated from Germany to the United States in the 19th century. His Confederate-supporting, the slave-owning great-grandfather was a German Jew from Mobile, Alabama.

Other Projects
- Aside from that, David has worked on several other movies and TV shows. Sour Grapes is a 1998 film directed by David about a rivalry between two cousins over a gambling prize. It bombed with consumers and critics alike.
- David had a brief appearance as a client of Ari Gold on the HBO series Entourage. Since his girls were big fans of the Hannah Montana show, David and his children made a cameo appearance as themselves in the Hannah Montana episode “My Best Friend’s Boyfriend.”
